Men’s Skincare Routine Made Simple

Good skin should be an essential part of every man’s routine and this may well be the best investment you make in yourself this year. Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, incorporating a simple routine before or after your morning shave can be the added boost to start your day. Every man wants to feel fresh and handsome, and now, there’s a simple way to do that.

Men, just like women, is at the mercy of many forces that cause skin to age. Sun, harsh weather, and bad habits all play a dramatic role in the natural balance and overall appearance of our skin. We all know that UV rays cause skin cells to die, damage, or develop cancer as well as expediting premature wrinkles. Whereas unhealthy habits, such as consuming too much fast food and smoking cigarettes, deprive the skin of much needed nutrients resulting in uneven skin tone, sagging skin, and breakouts.

Even as men grow older, establishing a skincare routine is vital for maintaining that unblemished, handsome look. Fortunately, achieving this is not that difficult to do. It starts by washing the skin, particularly your face, with lukewarm water. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends lukewarm water as this will avoid irritating the skin and prevent unwanted redness. If you thought hot and cold temperatures were the key, you haven’t been opening your pores or effectively ridin your face of the dirt that hides beneath. Start by keeping your routine simple by splashing your face twice daily with lukewarm water as this is the perfect precursor for a quality cleanser (more on that below).

This is the part of a man’s skincare routine that often gets ignored, either because it doesn’t appear “manly” or simply from the lack of knowledge. Adding a lightweight facial cleanser to your morning routine helps eliminate that nasty dirt from building up within your pores. However, that’s only half the battle. To maintain that fresh feel throughout the entire day, you should finish off with a face moisturizer to seal off your skin from the harmful forces mentioned before. When you moisturize daily, you can keep your skin hydrated while preventing it from becoming dry and oily. Now, there’s one last thing, and this is something you don’t have to do daily, every man needs a face scrub. Add this to your routine just 2 to 3 times per week, you’ll have everything you need to attain and maintain a handsome face each and every morning.
